Mayor Benjamin Magalong has issued a comprehensive and robust executive order, no. 65, series of 2023, marking a new chapter in the city’s patriotic celebrations. The order provides a detailed plan for the upcoming National Flag Days, Independence Day, and Filipino-American Friendship Day, clearly outlining the expected activities and protocols for each celebration.

For the National Flag Days, observed from May 28 to June 12, the executive order mandates that all government facilities and buildings display the Philippine Flag in accordance with relevant laws. Moreover, the public is actively encouraged to participate by displaying the Flag in their residences and businesses. A Flag Raising Ceremony (FRC) and program are slated for May 29, 2023, at 8 am at the Baguio City Hall Flagpole grounds.

The festivities will also include Retirement Rites for worn-out Philippine flags during the FRC and a seminar on the Heraldic Code of the Philippines. This seminar will take place at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center (BCCC) at 9:30 am. All City Government offices, national government agencies, and private sector entities are directed to support and actively participate in these events.

When Independence Day arrives on June 12, a special program will be held at the BCCC at 8 am. All City Government officials and employees are mandated to attend, with their attendance to be monitored by their respective administrative officers. National Agencies in the city are also invited to join the program.

The final event outlined in the executive order is the Filipino-American Friendship Day celebration. The day will begin with a wreath-laying ceremony and program at the bust of Justice George Malcolm at 8 am on July 4, followed by a chilli cook-off at the same location.

The executive order stresses the importance of active participation in all activities of the one-day celebration by all City Government employees. Mayor Magalong’s order serves as a testament to the city’s commitment to patriotism and unity, fostering a stronger sense of community among its residents.
