Golfing for Good: The Rise of a Charitable Tournament in Baguio
The tranquil city of Baguio, known for its cool climate and lush pine trees, is now on the radar of golfers nationwide, as it recently hosted the 1st Good Governance Golf Tournament. The ceremonial Tee Off took place at the renowned Baguio Country Club on May 19, 2023.
Dubbed after Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s guidepost, this tournament adopted the “Systems 36 Tournament” format. This competition was not just about showcasing golf skills, but also promoting and supporting local organizations and communities.
A commendable collaboration of several esteemed entities made this event possible. Among them were Baguio Country Club, Sandigan Golfers, AIP Construction, Megapines Realty and Development Inc., La Faayette Suites, 1 Loyalty Lending, Goldrich & Romeo Tango Construction, Pangasinan Solid North Transit, and Romeo Chong.
Making a Swing for Local Charities
The Good Governance Golf Tournament has dedicated its efforts and resources to help local charities in Baguio, including the PMA Host Parents Club, Blind Association of Baguio, Autism Society of the Philippines Baguio Chapter, Sariling Binhi Production, St. John Paul II Learning Center for Special Kids, Association of Filipino Youth for Civic Action, and the Baguio Creative Council.
Adding to the excitement, the event coincided with the 1st Cordillera Golfers Foundation Inc Cup, hosted at Camp John Hay and Pinewoods Golf & Country Club from May 18 to 20, 2023.
Golfing enthusiasts are strongly encouraged to support these two noble sporting events, not just for the love of the sport, but for the significant causes they represent.
